OA Ordeal 2023

The weekend of August 11-13, 2023 5 scouts, Colton, David, Jade, Leo, and Jeff, and one adult leader, Joshua Reuscher, represented Troop 148 at the Nischa Chuppecat Lodge #212’s OA Ordeal week, which is the the first step toward full membership in the Order of the Arrow, Scouts BSA’s National Honor Society that is composed of Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives as elected by their peers. During this weekend, candidates maintain silence, receive small amounts of food, work on camp improvement projects, and sleep apart from other campers; the entire experience is designed to teach significant values.

After 6 months of service as an Ordeal member, and fulfilling certain requirements, these scouts may take part in the Brotherhood ceremony, which places further emphasis on the ideals of Scouting and the Order and signifies full membership in the Order.
