Spring Mill State Park Campout
April 4-6, Troop 148 will head down to the historic Spring Mill State Park in Mitchell, Indiana, for a weekend of history and nature. Known for its lush hiking trails and limestone caves, the park is also home to the Pioneer Village, a recreation of an early settlers' village featuring 20 historic buildings centered around an authentic three-story limestone gristmill. Built in 1817, the mill is still grinding corn today!

Spring Camporee
March 7-9, Troop 148 will travel to Maumee Scout Reservation for the Hoosier Trails Council’s Oregon Trail themed Spring Camporee where our scouts will enjoy an action packed weekend inspired by the historic route used by pioneers traveling westward across the United States during the 19th century.

Eastside Merit Badge Day
On Saturday, February 22, 2025, Troop 148 is headed to Madison Indiana to attend the Hoosier Trails Council Eastside Merit Badge Day at Ivy Tech. Merit Badge days are a great opportunity for scouts to to explore new interests, develop skills, and work toward their rank advancements by taking workshops taught by qualified counselors and participating in discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.

Winter Rendezvous 2025
Troop 148 is proud to announce that we will be the host troop for this year’s highly anticipated Winter Rendezvous, taking place over the weekend of January 17th-19th at Maumee Scout Reservation. Scouts from across the region will descend on Maumee for a weekend packed with exciting activities and friendly competition.

Video Game Lock-In
A Troop favorite, the Annual Video Game Lock-In will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church from Friday, December 15 8:00 pm until Saturday, December 16 at 7:00 am. Scouts can spend all night playing their favorite (scout appropriate!) video games, board games, and card games while pigging out on junk food!

Cabin Campout
The weekend of November 8-10, Troop 148 will head out to Ransburg Scout Reservation, located in the heart of the Hoosier National Forest and along the scenic shores of Lake Monroe for our annual cabin camp out.

Westside Sector Fall Camporee 2024
The theme of this year’s camporee is International Scouting in honor of the event coinciding with the national JOTA/JOTI(Jamboree on the Air/Jamboree on the Internet) event.

MSR Shoot-o-ree Campout
Gear up for an exciting weekend at Maumee Scout Reservation for the annual Cub Scout Shoot-o-ree Campout! Attending scouts will serve as volunteers, running stations and teaching shooting safety and etiquette. From rubber bands to BB guns to rifles, there will be shooting activities of every kind imaginable! This is a fantastic opportunity for our scouts to develop leadership skills while ensuring a fun and safe experience for the Cub Scouts. Get ready for an action-packed weekend that’s sure to hit the mark!

Golfing Day Trip
Mark your calendars for August 17 when the troop takes over Cascades Golf Course! This golf outing promises a day of friendly competition and skill-building on the beautiful greens of one of Bloomington’s best golf courses. Whether you're a seasoned golfer, a putt-putt pro, or you’ve never even picked up a club before… there’s fun to be had by golfers at any level. Wear your class Bs, bring a water bottle and a positive attitude, and get ready to tee off with your fellow scouts for an unforgettable day of golf!

Blue's Canoes Livery Day Trip
Saturday, July 13, 2024 the troop will head over to Blue's Canoes Livery in Edinburgh, IN to canoe the picturesque Driftwood River. This trip offers a perfect blend of relaxation and fun for all skill levels. Meet us at the livery for a day filled with scenic views, gentle rapids, and plenty of the chances to bond with fellow scouts. Don't forget to bring your sunscreen, water bottle, and enthusiasm for a memorable outing. See you on the water!

Big Splash Adventure
On Thursday, June 27, 2024 the troop will be heading down to spend the day at the Big Splash Adventure, an indoor waterpark in French Lick, IN. Scouts will create unforgettable memories zipping down the Jolly Roger Jetty water slide, plunging down Pirate's Plunder and into the famous "toilet bowl", splashing and playing basketball in the Lost Treasure Lagoon, or simply relaxing on the Lost River, Big Splash’s lazy river. Spanning over 40,000 square feet; there are so many fun things to do! The scouts are sure to have a splashtastic day!

Summer Camp 2024
Mark your calendars now for Summer Camp 2023 at the Maumee Scout Reservation! For new scouts, Summer Camp is a great opportunity to complete many of the advancement requirements along the Path to 1st class. But for all scouts is a great time for making memories, meeting friends, learning new skills and exploring the great outdoors. Most of all, camp provides an opportunity for young people to take the lead, test their abilities and push their limits, all while having a blast.

Tecumseh Council COPE course + Air Force Museum
The weekend of May 10-12, Troop 148 will head out to Camp Hugh Taylor Birch of the Tecumseh Council in Yellow Springs, Ohio for an adrenaline-fueled weekend filled. We will begin with a visit to the prestigious Air Force Museum, where we will learn about the history of our aviation armed forces up close! From vintage aircraft to modern marvels, there's something for everyone at this awe-inspiring museum.
But the excitement doesn't stop there! Because the scouts will also be tackling the COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) High & Low Courses at Tecumseh Council which are designed to push participants out of their comfort zones, fostering teamwork, leadership, and personal growth in a thrilling outdoor setting. It surely will be a weekend to remember for all scouts who attend!

Solar Eclipse-o-ree
Mark your calendar and register today for this one-time event! On Monday, April 8, Monroe County will experience almost 4 minutes of totality during the solar eclipse. Units from all over the US will be invited to attend a unique event at Hoosier Trails Council’s Maumee Scout Reservation filled with activities centered around this amazing event, including a camera obscura, sun prints, a fire building challenge, a solar cooking demonstration, solar eclipse geometry, fishing, hiking, and more! And because Indiana weather is unpredictable at best we will have a range of alternate activities planned in the case of bad weather!

Marengo Cave
Scouts will spend the day immersed in teamwork and invigorating challenges, beginning by enjoying a leisurely stroll through Marengo Cave’s Dripstone Trail and Crystal Palace tours before diving head first into cave exploring with guided tours through several undeveloped sections of a 4.6 mile cave system. The tour will be an adventure filled with teamwork and camaraderie followed by an overnight campout over 200 feet below ground! Scouts will drift off to sleep in the peaceful stillness of the cave’s 52 degree air and wake up to a hot breakfast before packing up and heading back out to greet the daylight.

Skating Lock-In
Friday, February 9, the scouts will being by joining the public open skate at Western Skateland from 9-11 pm. After the public leaves, the good times will continue for our troop as we continue skating and playing games all through the night! Scouts can bring appropriate board games. (But no electronic games, please.)
Scouts attending the Skating Lock-In are eligible to earn the Skating Merit Badge.

Winter Rendezvous 2024
The Annual Wapehani Winter Rendezvous at beautiful Maumee Scout Reservation is back! Join us for cold weather fun and games!

Video Game Lock-In

Hoosier Heights Lock-In
Friday November 10, scouts can spend all night hanging out in the Hoosier Heights indoor rock climbing gym. Interested scouts can also use this opportunity to complete the Climbing Merit Badge.

Crossroads Airshow
The weekend of October 28-29, scouts will travel to Indianapolis to campout, volunteer at, and attend the Crossroads Air Show featuring the finest precision military jet demonstration team, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

Westside Fall Camporee 2023
In October, scouts will participate in the “Scoutish” Highland Games at Camp Indicoso in Springville, Indiana for the annual Hoosier Trails Council Fall Camporee.

Middle Way House Playground Service Project
On Saturday, September 30, our Troop will spend the afternoon repairing and refurbishing the playground at Middle Way House, a shelter for those experiencing domestic abuse and sexual assault.

Kings Island Campout
In September, the Troop will head over to Mason, Ohio, just NE of Cincinnati to spend the day at Kings Island, a 364-acre amusement park that features over 100 attractions including 14 roller coasters, such as The Racer, The Beast, The Banshee, and Orion.

Eagle Creek Zipline Park
For this trip we will be camping at Eagle Creek Park and spending the day at Go Ape Zipline & Adventure Park which features a 40 feet high canopy tour and thrilling high-ropes course.


Summer Camp 2023

Spring Camporee
The 2023 Westside Sector Spring Camporee will be an amazing opportunity for scouts to experience a variety of shooting sports activities, including shotgun, rifle, pellet rifle, archery, tomahawk throwing, and knife throwing. All shooters, at any level of expertise are encouraged to attend!

Turkey Run State Park
We will be camping and hiking in Turkey Run State Park, Indiana's second state park, located in Parke County in the west-central part of the state.

Spring Break in St. Louis
Scouts will spend a week exploring and learning about the history of this iconic American river city known as the “Gateway to the West.”

Lunar Ice Skating
Scouts will spend the evening at Frank Southern Ice Arena (2100 S. Henderson) for a special Lunar Skating event where the arena will be specially lit with strobe lights and other special lighting, all while skaters cruise around the ice to the best hits of the 80s, 90s and today!

Pokagon State Park Toboggan Run
Thrill seeking scouts will get to climb a 30-foot tower, then experience the dips, valleys, and 90 foot vertical drop of the Pokagon Toboggan Run while moving at a top recorded speed of 42 mph across this quarter-mile refrigerated course.
