Philmont 2021

Philmont Scout Ranch is a working ranch, maintaining small herds of cattle, horses, burros, and bison, located in Colfax County, New Mexico, near the village of Cimarron; it covers 140,177 acres of wilderness in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of the Rocky Mountains. By land area, it is one of the largest youth camps in the world, and it is home to the Philmont Training Center, the National Scouting Museum and the Seton Memorial Library.

Every year, between June 8 and August 22, an estimated 22,000 Scouts, Venturers, and adult leaders backpack through the Ranch's extensive backcountry and participate in other outdoor activities. From July 1-July 8, five scouts and two adult leaders from Troop 148 participated in this coveted High Adventure activity.

Greyson said his favorite part was “learning to filter water from the fresh water lakes.” Lesa said her favorite part was Chuck wagon dinner and campfire. Everyone said that it was challenging, but fun, and that they learned a lot!
