Brown County Campout

The campout on April 22-24, 2022 in Brown County brought the 15 scouts and 5 adults who went back to the basics of just enjoying fellowship in the the outdoors while working on teamwork, leadership skills, and some rank advancement requirements.

Highlights of the weekend included:

  • Friday night's Troop 148 off-off Broadway production of Hamilton

  • Light-up corn hole and improvised Ga-Ga ball

  • The return of warm weather meant some comfortable hammock sleeping

  • Participating in the Saturday afternoon Weed Wrangle, which doubled as a native plant identification hike with Interpretive Naturalist, Eli Major, as well as a chance for some service hours!

  • The Phoenix patrol identified their 10 animals/birds/amphibians during the Troop’s 3 mile hike around Ogle and Strahl lakes

  • And all of the scouts impressed with some majorly delicious camp meals, including Peter and David's delicious Dutch oven pizza, the Phoenix patrol's spaghetti and meatballs, and Alex and Gavin’s Dutch oven dump cakes!

Overall it was a really awesome weekend that reminded everyone who went why scouting is so important to them!
