Summer Camp 2023
Summer Camp 2023 was a roaring success! 16 scouts and 3 adult leaders spent a week at Maumee Scout Reservation where they completed gobs of merit badges, including Camping, Cooking, Emergency Preparedness, Lifesaving, Archery, Electronics, Engineering, Mammal Study, Motor Boating, Nature, Shot gun, plus Signs, Signals, & Codes, just to name a few!
Some highlights of the campout included: being able to eat in the dining hall again (first time since before COVID!), Alex winning the belly flop contest, and the new slushie machine in the scout store.
On Thursday night, scouts welcomed their sibling, parents, and guardians for Family Night. Everyone enjoyed pizza, sides, and desserts before heading over to the East Ridge for the Order of the Arrow Tapping Ceremony. Troop 148 was proud to have 7 scouts, Colton, Beau, Logan H., David, Jade, Leo, and Jeff, and one adult leader, Joshua Reuscher, selected for this honor.
On Friday morning, Logan, David, Oliver, and Leo braced the cold waters of Lake Tarzian in order to earn their membership in the 1-mile swim club. David had the fastest youth time of the day, finishing in just over 40 minutes.
Saturday morning, after packing up the gear, then cleaning up the campsite to leave it cleaner than they found it, the Troop headed back to meet their families at St. Paul. Scouter’s no doubt spent the rest of the day unpacking, doing laundry, and telling their families about the awesome time they had at camp!
