Winter Rendezvous

The weekend of January 17-19, four adults and thirteen scouts ventured to the heart of the Hoosier National Forest for the Hoosier Trails Council’s 29th Annual Winter Rendezvous. This year, our troop had the honor and responsibility of serving as the host troop, a role that required us to step up and lead in both spirit and action. As hosts, we were entrusted with key logistical tasks and the smooth operation of the event. Our scouts and leaders worked diligently to start campfires at event stations and warming areas, ensuring everyone had a place to gather and stay warm in the frigid weather. We also replenished warming station supplies, assisted the kitchen staff with serving and cleanup during the feast, and took on the task of building the campfire for Saturday night’s award ceremony that brought the event to a memorable close. On Sunday morning, we rolled up our sleeves to ensure a thorough clean up of the campground, cleaning the bathrooms, emptying public trash cans, and double check the firepans. It was hard work in below-freezing temperatures, but Troop 148 rose to the challenge, embodying teamwork, resilience, and we secured our reputation as the best troop in Monroe County!

Of course, the weekend wasn’t just about hard work—several of our scouts found time to showcase their skills at the shooting ranges, with Alex, Colton, and Noah securing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in shotgun shooting and Colton and Noah earning 1st and 2nd place at rifle shooting, respectively.

The weekend was an unforgettable experience filled with opportunities to demonstrate leadership and moments to celebrate our hard work and camaraderie. We’re proud of everything we accomplished and are grateful to the Hoosier Trails Council for organizing such a meaningful event.
