Marengo Cave Campout

The weekend of March 23-24, members of Troop 148 journeyed deep into the earth to explore Indiana's most popular natural attraction, Marengo Cave, located in Crawford County. On Saturday morning, 14 scouts and 2 adult volunteers ventured into the 7 aces of underground rock formations, guided only by the glow of their headlamps and the echoes of their laughter. Throughout the day, they explored a mile of underground attractions, including the Crystal Palace, Dripstone Trail, The Masher, The Crawl, and The Mega Maze.

After a day of exploration, the campers, tired, muddy, and filled with a sense of adventurous accomplishment, drifted off to sleep within the serenity of their underground abode. After a night of sleep in the impenetrable darkness and the consistently cool stillness of the cave, the troop arose for a delicious breakfast of the finest cavern cuisine before packing up and heading home.
