Skating Lock-In

On Friday, February 9, 2024, 15 scouts and 2 adult volunteers attended our first all night skating lock-in at Western Skateland. During the 9pm-11pm open skate session, scouts represented the troop well with Gavin and Trevor winning the 4 corners content and Kristopher winning the sock race. After open skate ended, the public skaters went home for the night, but for our scouts’ the night was just getting started! Over the next 8 hours, scouts played games, learned about skating safety and preparations, practiced skating fundamentals, and learned a few tricks required for the skating merit badge, including skating backwards and shooting the duck. A few scouts even snuck in a few zzzs before their parents came to pick them up at 7 am the next morning!
